It’s derby day at Hampden on Saturday as old foes Clyde come calling. Danny Lennon’s side head to the national stadium looking to extend an unbeaten league run which stretches back to October last year and a record which Mark Roberts side will be keen to put an end to. Ahead of the Hampden clash the gaffer spoke to the club media team.
Looking ahead to the game Mark said: “It goes without saying it’s yet another very tough match in store for us. Clyde are on a very good run just now and even though they have been, and will be, missing their best player (in David Goodwillie) they have continued to produce results.
“They’re an experienced side who are very much in the mix of the title race so it’s a massive game for them. They possess a real threat going forward, and we saw that quality when the sides last met at Broadwood.
“That said, we’ve been playing relatively well recently and there’s an onus on us to start turning the performances into points, something which we haven’t done enough of recently. It’s our home game and I expect us to go out and look to take the game to Clyde.
“We need to make sure that we’re a threat in front of goal and most importantly, look to take any chances we create. I don’t expect either side to sit in and stop the other from playing so there will be opportunities for us to pose them a threat.
On the injury front Roberts confirmed that a few of his players are carrying niggling injuries but nothing that he would expect to rule anyone out at this stage.
The opposition: Danny Lennon’s side go into Saturday’s game looking to extend a 13-match unbeaten run which stretches back to October 2018. On that run they have recorded nine wins and four draws, seven of those wins coming in the last eight matches. Their last outing was a 1-0 home win over Albion Rovers last Saturday. The Bully Wee currently sit third in the table, three points behind league leaders Edinburgh City but with a game in hand.
