Queen’s Park v Alloa Athletic

Match Preview

The Spiders return to the home comforts of Hampden after an impressive and confidence boosting 1-0 away win over Albion Rovers last weekend. Our opponents go into the game on the back of an impressive home win of their own, a 4-1 victory over East Fife. Taking those results into account, the clash at the national stadium has the makings of a good game.

Ahead of the match the club media team spoke to the gaffer to get his thoughts.

Firstly reflecting on the Albion Rovers win a delighted Gus MacPherson said: “We were naturally very pleased with the result and to have kept a clean sheet. I’ve said numerous times over the last few weeks that we have been playing well and creating chances. The biggest issue was working hard to eradicate the individual mistakes that have cost us on occasion and I was delighted we managed that on Saturday.

“It was an important three points and I felt that we had opportunities early on in the second half to have increased the lead, which would have made it more comfortable for us. That said, to have gone to such a difficult venue and taken three points against a strong Albion Rovers side who have been going well this season was excellent.”

Turning his thoughts to the next fixture he said: “We know we will be up against yet another tough opponent when Alloa come to Hampden. Like ourselves, they had a good result last weekend and they will be looking forward to playing at Hampden.

“ We will be looking for more of the same from our guys and a continuation of some of the good performances that we have seen already this season. We need to ensure, like last week, we keep the mistakes to a minimum and then take chances when they come our way. If we can do that, I’m hopefully that we can take something from the game.”

On the squad front Gus confirmed that there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game. He will be without the services of striker Ewan MacPherson who continues to battle back from an ankle injury that has kept him out for some time now. The gaffer also confirmed the departure of midfielder David Green who left the club earlier this week.
