The Spiders make the journey east to take on Dunfermline in the Irn Bru Cup in what is our first visit to East End Park in over 17 years. The draw against the Championship side was reward for Queen’s impressive 2-0 home win over Morton at Hampden in September but since then, it’s not been pretty viewing for Spiders fans with four league defeats on the bounce.
However, this competition has provided some memorable moments for the Spiders, with us reaching the semi-final as recently as last season, when we lost out narrowly to Peterhead.
And that impressive victory over Morton came in the first meeting between those two sides in this particular competition. We’ve never met Dunfermline on Challenge Cup duty before … could lightening possibly strike twice?
The opposition: The Pars’ last fixture in the Irn Bru Cup saw them comfortably beat Brechin City 5-1 at Glebe Park in early September. Following that they went on to suffer a 3-1 home defeat to Dundee United and then a 2-1 away defeat to Morton. They then recorded a 4-3 home win over St Mirren before drawing 0-0 against Ayr United at Somerset Park last Saturday.
